Middle schooler pushes Ohio bill to let surviving spouses keep Purple Heart license plates

TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) – Grady Langenderfer, a sixth grader, lost his grandfather, a Purple Heart recipient, last year.

His grandmother wanted to keep the Purple Heart license plate as a tribute to him, but was unable to under the current state law.

“I’m asking our state to allow the spouse of a Purple Heart recipient to keep their loved one’s license plate if they choose,” Grady said.

State Rep. Jim Hoops (R-Napoleon), who represents House District 81, filed the Purple Heart Memorial Plate Act in June after hearing Grady’s family story. Hoops recently visited Evergreen Schools to meet with Grady and other students. [VIEW FULL ARTICLE HERE]
